Fractal geometry

With fractal geometry you can zoom in on a design and each time you will see a "different" manifestation of the same image.


Each zoom is like a map of the image with a different perspective.  
Nature is full of living things which can be described as fractals, i.e. the self  repeating patens of scales on a fish or a leaf on a tree which contain a map of the whole tree, a cauliflower head would be another example. 

The 3 pictures below may look like they have nothing in common, however they were all "generated" from a single source. They were generated on a 386 P.C, using software called "Fractint".

The first picture is a zoom in on an image created with the software. The second is a 3D rotation of the 3rd image, which itself is a zoom out of the first and you can go-on and on.

When you fool around with pictures patterns seem to emerge all by themselves the pixels appear to self organise into pictures that can look very different than what you started out with
